Phill Heratage
Phill Heritage is a Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Physiology and Human Performance Service Lead at the School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences. He holds a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Aberystwyth University, an MSc in Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology from Bangor University, and a PGCert in Medical Education from the University of Dundee. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a Chartered Scientist. Phill is study a PhD in concussion knowledge within key stakeholders in football at Coventry University under the supervision of Dr Samuel Oxford.
Phill is a BASES-accredited Sport and Exercise Scientist with extensive experience working across a range of sports, age groups, and performance levels. His career includes roles with AFC Bournemouth and various academic and athletic institutions throughout the UK. He currently leads the Human Performance Services, focusing on health assessments and sports performance, collaborating with coaches, athletes, and support staff at both local and national levels.
His research interests center on concussion in sport, applied physiology, and performance in extreme environments, with ongoing PhD work exploring behaviors and attitudes toward concussion in football. Phill is actively involved in grant-funded research and technology trials, including VOâ‚‚ max prediction for healthcare and innovative diagnostic tools for concussion.
Recent presentations include topics on concussion awareness among medical professionals and psychological challenges in para-snowsport athletes. His work has been featured at conferences such as BASES and the Centre for Sport, Exercise and Life Sciences
